Psychotherapy Treatments

The use of psychological methods, particularly when based on regular personal interaction with adults, to help a person change behavior and overcome problems in desired ways. Psychotherapy aims to improve an individual’s well-being and mental health. We strive to resolve or mitigate troublesome behaviors, beliefs, compulsions, thoughts, or emotions, and improve relationships and social skills.

Therapy may be conducted in an individual, family, couple, or group setting, and can help both children and adults. Sessions are typically held once a week for about 30 to 50 minutes. Based on your initial assessment, our team will create a personalized treatment plan to help address your unique concerns.

Improve Your Well-being and Mental Health

It is not ethical to see more than 1 individual therapist at a time. New England Psychiatry will only accept new patients with no current individual therapist. Once you begin treatment through psychotherapy, our team will use a variety of therapeutic approaches to help bolster your well-being and mental health. You’ll work with your therapist to explore thoughts, feelings, behaviors, experiences, and more.

Psychotherapy can help improve your self-awareness. In our safe and supportive space, individuals learn to explore their thoughts and emotions, gaining a deeper understanding of themselves. Many of our patients find that increased self-awareness helps supports their well-being in all aspects of life, from work life to relationships.

Another benefit of psychotherapy is improved emotional regulation. Through weekly sessions, you’ll learn to manage stress, anxiety, and other emotional challenges. Our personalized psychotherapy treatments can help you discover your strengths and weaknesses and learn tools to support you in achieving your goals.

Individual Psychotherapy

In individual psychotherapy, or talk therapy, a mental health treatment professional works with the patient or client on a one-to-one basis. The primary goal of individual therapy is to increase understanding of one’s thought and behavior patterns to help increase function and well-being. In therapy, people can learn how to effectively manage stress, interpersonal difficulties and troubling situations. They may develop abilities to make healthy decisions, set goals and become more self-aware.

Family Psychotherapy

A form of psychotherapy that focuses on the improvement of interfamilial relationships and behavioral patterns of the family unit as a whole, as well as among individual members and groupings, or subsystems, within the family.
